It is the question we hear most at our Amaya Mall bar: “Wait, how is my face on my coffee?” The Selfie Latte looks like magic the first time you see it, but it is really a careful mix of good milk, good technique and a very precise printer. Here is what happens between the moment you share your photo and the moment you take your first sip.
Step 1: It starts with the right drink
A print is only as good as the surface it lands on. We build every Selfie Latte on freshly steamed milk with a smooth, dense layer of microfoam, the same velvety texture you want in a great latte. If the foam is too thin, the image sinks. If it is too airy, the bubbles break up the detail. Our baristas pour the base so the top is flat, glossy and even, which gives the printer a clean “canvas” to work on.
Step 2: Your photo becomes a print file
You share a photo with us at the counter, or preview it first using the Foam Studio simulator on our website. The image is converted into a high-contrast version sized for the cup, so faces, smiles and outlines stay crisp once they are printed onto a round surface.
Step 3: Printed with edible coffee ink
The cup goes under our latte printer, which sprays tiny droplets of 100% edible ink made from coffee extract directly onto the foam. There are no artificial dyes and nothing touches the drink except the ink itself, so the flavour of your latte stays exactly the same. The whole print takes less than a minute.
Step 4: Served straight away
Foam is alive: it slowly settles as it sits. That is why we hand your cup over the moment it is printed. Take your photo quickly, then enjoy it while the design and the drink are at their best.
How to get the best-looking print
- Use good light. A bright, evenly lit face prints far better than a dark or backlit one.
- Keep it close. Head-and-shoulders photos work best. Group shots with small faces lose detail.
- Go for contrast. Clear outlines and a plain background make the image pop on the foam.
- Think beyond selfies. Pets, logos, handwritten messages and birthday wishes all print beautifully.
